What we really do?
With the objective of promoting reading habit amongst the vast literate population of Dombivli, Mr Pundalik Pai, a fresh graduate then, opened his first library on 22nd May 1986 with just about 100 books. The first branch of the library was opened at Tilak Nagar area of Dombivli. Today Pai's Friends Library is the largest private books circulating library with over 4,50,000+ books in various languages. We have 4 branches in Dombivli itself, catering to over 20000+ members. In addition to this, we have 2 Reading Room facilities for Post-Graduate Students where they can come to study in peace. We have been credited to be the first fully computerised private library in Mumbai. Our libraries are open 365 days supported by over 20 experienced staff members. We also conduct various programs like Books exchange exhibition, Friends Katta, Fundoo Katta, Books Street event, etc. to promote and sustain the habit of reading amongst people of all ages.
