Living Music conversations with Pandit Dinkar Kaikini, is the dialogue between a sincere guru and earnest disciple, in which a realised soul explains his philosophy of Hindustani ragsangit and his personal journey to becoming a consummate performer, composer scholar, and guru. In a very Intimate portrait of the man and the musician, Living Music explores pandit Kaikini's theories of sound, melody, rhythm, and creativity, while simultaneously following him during his life of courage, uncompromising devotion of music and constant spiritual inquiry. About the Author Priya Purshothaman is a young Hindustani Vocalist based in Bangalore. Since 2003, she has been training with Smt Adit Kaikin Updadhya. Her tutelage was supplemented with advanced training from stalwart musician and scholar, Pandit Dinkar Kaikini, in Mumbai. Before studying Hindustanin Ragsangit, Priya trained extensively in both Carnatic Vocal music and Western classical violin. Whe has performed in noted venues around India and the United States, and is committed to increasing awareness about Hindustani music through Performance, teaching and educational outreach. Priya was raised in New York and graduated for Columbia University with a degree in Economics, Philosophy and Creative Writing.
