From Reveille To Retreat

'Reveille to Retreat' is the story of Lieutenant General SPP. Thorat, an Indian Army officer, who by his life and personal example, exemplified the values that his family, the Indian Army and his country stood for and held dear. The setting of this book is India and the world, and the time that this story walks us through is the twentieth century, during which time, cataclysmic changes were taking place worldwide. It was during this time that India was engulfed in World War II, the Freedom movement, Partition, the Indo-Pak war of 1947-48, the Korean war of 1950, and the Sino-Indian war of 1962. In all these events General Thorat played a stellar role exhibiting the highest values of courage, honour, chivalry, self-sacrifice, balance and maturity. His hobbies and sports of shikar and angling brought a sense of adventure to his life when he was not battling enemies on the battlefield.
