In Other Words
In Other Words is at heart a love story - of a writer's passion for another language. For Jhumpa Lahiri, that love was for Italian, which first captivated her during a trip to Florence after college. Although Lahiri studied Italian for many years afterward, true mastery eluded her. So in 2012, she decided to move to Rome where she began to read, and to write - initially in her journal - solely in Italian. In Other Words, an autobiographical work written in Italian, investigates the process of learning to express oneself in another language and describes the journey of a writer seeking a new voice.

As Shah Jahan's treatment is kept under strict supervision, rumours begin to swirl. Is the emperor alive? Or is his death being kept a closely-guarded secret? It's impossible to know for certain, since the spies and agents of the kingdom trade in misinformation and half-truths, and only heighten the tension between the brothers. In this atmosphere of palace intrigue and chicanery - as Murad acquires a reputation for overindulgence, Dara for sensitivity, and Shuja for impulsiveness - the stage seems set for a power-hungry Aurangzeb to make his ascent as emperor. However, will Aurangzeb's quest for domination become his ultimate undoing? The Mughal High Noon, with master brushstrokes, explores questions of power, faith and contentment.

This Unquiet Land
One of the most remarkable books ever published about contemporary India, arguably the most complex society on earth, This Unquiet Land tells the truth about the country's secrets and lies, its torments and triumphs and its heroes and villains. This is the first book by Barkha Dutt, India's best known journalist. India's fault lines run wide and deep. Some of them go back centuries, others are of comparatively recent origin. The myriad villains these fault lines have spawned include rapists, murderers, terrorists, prophets of religious hatred, corrupt politicians, upholders of abhorrent caste traditions, opponents of free speech and dissent, apologists for regressive cultural practices and external adversaries who try to destabilize our borders.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee
From being one of the earliest members of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Vajpayee blossomed into a leading opposition MP by the late 1960s, went on to become External Affairs Minister in the short-lived Janata government and, finally in 1999, to head the first non-Congress government to complete a full term in office. That it was a coalition government made the feat all the more remarkable and testifies to the fact that though wedded to a right-wing political ideology, Vajpayee did not believe in the politics of exclusion. A protege of Jana Sangh stalwarts like Syama Prasad Mukherjee and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, Vajpayee won the admiration of Jawaharlal Nehru, was consulted by his daughter Indira Gandhi - whom he never lacked the courage to criticize - and befriended by fiery trade unionist George Fernandes even before they became political allies. He thus displayed an unusual ability to carry along all shades of political opinion-an ability that came to the fore when he headed the National Democratic Alliance government between 1999 and 2004. And behind this public persona was an unusual personal life, conducted with such dignity as to remain free of innuendo. In this book, journalist Kingshuk Nag traces the political journey of this tall parliamentarian of over four decades, who was conferred the Bharat Ratna in December 2014. Atal Bihari Vajpayee - A Man for All Seasons is a definitive account of the life and times of one of Indias most illustrious non-Congress leaders.

The Turbulent Years 1980-1996
A sharp insider's account of the many political and economic decisions that shaped the future of modern India The Turbulent Years opens in the 1980s. Sanjay Gandhi is dead under unexpected, tragic circumstances, not many years later, Indira Gandhi is assassinated, Rajiv Gandhi, 'the reluctant politician', abruptly becomes India's Prime Minister. Pranab Mukherjee was witness to (and, sometimes, a participant in) the momentous events of the 1980s and the 1990s, a period that was indisputably the most turbulent in India's post- Independence history. An insider, he sheds new light on every major political occurrence of the time - from Rajiv Gandhi's ascendance as India's Prime Minister to the emergence of P. V. Narasimha Rao as a leader of the nation, from Operation Blue Star to the Babri Masjid fiasco. Equally, Mukherjee is candid about each of the professional crises that marked this period of his career - the rumours that he wanted to elbow aside Rajiv Gandhi for the top post, the possible reasons for his ouster from Rajiv's Cabinet and later the party and the allegation that he aided and abetted the Left by not imposing President's rule in West Bengal and Tripura in the late 1980s. The second volume of Mukherjee's autobiography is not only an honest account of his years in power (And in the wilderness), but also a cogent analysis of the political and social turning points of a key period in the evolution of modern India.

The Z Factor
The pioneer who gate-crashed his way to the top Subhash Chandra, the promoter of Essel/ Zee Group, is an unlikely mogul. Hailing from a small town in Haryana, where his family ran grain mills, Chandra has been a perennial outsider, repeatedly aiming high and breaking into businesses where he was considered an interloper. Starting work as a teen to pay off family debts, Chandra had to rely on bluff, gumption and sheer hard toil to turn things around. A little bit of luck and political patronage saw him make a fortune in rice exports to the erstwhile USSR. Always a risk-taker, Chandra then had the vision of getting into broadcasting early, even as established media players failed to see its potential. His Zee TV, Indias first private Indian TV channel, changed the rules of the game and tickled the fancy of a public starved of entertainment. Several gutsy initiatives followed, though not all of them were successful. Chandras attempts to launch satellite telephony and a cricket league came a cropper. But the man continues to reinvent himself; he is now also focusing on infrastructure and smart cities. This is an unusually candid memoir of a truly desi self-made businessman who came to Delhi at age twenty with seventeen rupees in his pocket. Today, he has a net worth of $6.3 billion and annual group revenues of about $3 billion.

Pichai is a man known as much for his veritable Midas touch with every product he has developed for Google - Chrome, Chrome OS and Android to just name a few - as for his superlative people skills and calm approach to innovation and creativity. Yet, the company's decision to restructure its product lines and Pichai's appointment as the head of a leaner, more focused Google, has raised inevitable questions - What does Pichai's role indicate for the future of the tech giant? Will Google consolidate its position for existing products or will they focus on creating new ones? And will Pichai transform the organization that Page and Brinn created and led, or confirm the belief of a minority of naysayers that he is not yet ready for this daunting role? Pichai: The Future of Google examines these questions and more. Combining reportage and analysis, it throws light on Sundar Pichai's childhood and education, his entry into the tech world and quick rise up the ranks in Google, his experience with two different leaders, Schmidt and Page, and the takeaways from the Larry Page era, and his key contributions as a leader and tech-guru to Google's most successful properties. As much a study of the organization's fascinating eco-system that allows experimentations, innovation and progress to thrive Incisive and informative, as of the person chosen to head it, this book will inspire as much as it will inform
