Shobhaa - Never A Dull De
Women. Men. Women and Men. Its all about The Sexes and how to negotiate the new equations society demands in a rapidly changing, super charged gender confrontation that is throwing up fresh challenges nobody has any real answers to. but which involve us all. Shobhaa De presents a thought provoking anthology of her feminist writings. She bravely goes into sensitive terrain, raising important questions about our emotional complexities when it comes to issues that concern sexual politics in todays India. De covers it all, as she dexterously gets into the minds of contemporary Indians and candidly exposes familiar hypocrisies and hang ups. From tricky marital issues that most are scared to admit to our moral double standards while judging movie stars, politicians, Godmen and assorted celebrities. Unabashedly she debunks the use of nauseatingly old-fashioned terms like keep by an erudite judge, which in turn elicits a quick reaction from legal luminaries. Shobhaa: Never a Dull De provides tantalizing insights into the hidden lives of superstars to shocking incidents in small-town India that rarely find a spot on the front-page; poignant stories about women who silently suffer sexual violations; to the fascinating lives of women politicos who have made it big. Her writing is richly layered and insightful making it hard-hitting and socially relevant. As an important social commentator and opinion shaper, this is De at her sharpest best, fearlessly taking on prejudice and humbug, injustice and oppression, without once losing her humanity. Shobhaa Des rightful sobriquet: the Empress of the Hearts and Minds of the reading masses comes to life in Shobhaa: Never a Dull De!

Mystic's Musings: A Profound Mystic Of Our Times
The path of a spiritual seeker can be difficult. As the introductory passages in the book point out, seekers are ignorant of where they came from, the path that they should take, and what the destination is. In this situation, how would one learn about the path to wisdom? In Mystic’s Musings: A Profound Mystic Of Our Times, Sadhguru explains the vital need for a guru - a teacher for those who want to tread the path of spirituality and enlightenment. Seekers can learn from those who have travelled the path before and more easily reach their destination. In this book, the guru for contemporary seekers, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, explains to his readers how they can walk on the path to eternal bliss in this troubled world. In the form of questions and answers, he provides answers to the doubts of all seekers. Sadhguru is forthright in his answers and pushes the readers to go beyond their comfort zones. To a question as to how to deal with fears and anxieties, he asserts that fears are unreal as they are created in the person’s mind and kept alive by them. He explains that by going beyond the physical confines of the body and connecting with the higher plane, one can get rid of fears and insecurities. The book states that once a person begins to experience life at the spiritual level, fears and anxieties begin to disappear. With this beginning, the Sadhguru expounds on many topics, from mundane facts of life to the path to enlightenment, experiences of spirituality, life, death, and what lies beyond death. He also talks about the beings in other planes, and about disembodied beings. Mystic’s Musings: A Profound Mystic Of Our Times often challenges the readers’ level of comfort, urging them to explore their limitations and conditionings. It encourages them to explore everything, to ask questions and be open minded so that they can be receptive to all aspects of existence.

Force Of Nature
'Manhattan's Lower East side has rarely if ever been scrutinized with more snap and sympathy than in Solomita's new and memorable crime thriller, about a charismatically old-fashioned cop on the trail of a homicidal crack addict ... Fairly boils off the page with the sour fevers of a diseased city under siege ... this is easily one of the most atmospheric, moving and thrilling police novels of the year.'

Zen In The Art OF Painting
This new study reveals all the mystery of the zen approach to painting. The impact of zen art comes from its synthesis of elementary power and meditative silence, of unaffected simplicity and unfathomable depth, of sparkling humor and a subtle feeling for the miracles of everyday life.zen painters working from the basis of religious enlightenment, see the world around them with changed eyes. this is reflected in the seven qualities of thier art - asymmetry, simplicity, naturalness, depth, freedom, repose and consistency - some of which transcend purely aesthetic values and point to lofy moral and religious ideals. zen painting is not an isolated and clearly differentiated genre of East Asian art. as this book shows, it must be seen in its proper setting of the general history of art in china and japan on the one hand, and the overall development of Buddhist art in the East on the other.

The Last Song of Dusk
A tale of exquisite friendships, immense sacrifices and dangerous desires Pirouetting between laughter and tears, Siddharth Dhanvant Shanghvi's technicolour debut tells the story of four extraordinary lives. Of Anuradha Gandharva, gifted with astonishing beauty and magical songs; of her husband, Vardhmaan, struggling with secret losses; of Nandini, a deviously alluring artist, with a penchant for panthers and walking on water; and of Shloka, the Gandharvas' delicate, disturbingly silent child. As their fates unravel in an old villa in 1920s' India, they learn to navigate the ever-changing landscape of love, and in doing so encounter a host of eccentrics: Mr. Bunkusdaas, the father of Bollywood cinema; Stella Dimm, 'England's first ever Tit girl'; Libya Dass, rarely seen out of her porcelain bathtub; and Percival Worthington, the aristocratically limp son of the governor of Bombay, on whom Nandini rashly sets her sights. Told with tenderness and with dazzling wit, The Last Song of Dusk will haunt you long after you have turned the final page.

1857 – The Real Story Of The Great Uprising
1857 The Real Story Of The Great Uprising is a first hand account of India's First War of Independence. In 1857, a mutiny by the sepoys of the East India Company lead to the dissolution of the organization, and India came to be governed by the British crown. This book is Vishnu Bhatt Godshe Versaikar’s eye-witness account of the 1857 war. Bhatt, a poor Marathi Brahmin boy, travels to the north with his uncle to make a living by performing in religious rituals. However, the two of them are absolutely unaware of the bloody revolution unfolding in the rest of India. Expecting to face the usual travel issues like bad accommodation, pick pocketing, diarrhea, and bad roads, the Brahmins are shocked to learn that the army is planning a revolt over the use of cartridges greased with cow and pig fat. They try their best to steer clear of clashes, but are caught up in the Bundelkhand rising, and Rani Lakshmi Bai’s fight to defend Jhansi. 1857 The Real Story Of The Great Uprising, writing in the form of a travelogue, tells the tale of ordinary people caught in the middle of complex situations. The simple language used makes it easy to understand the author’s experiences. This book is not burdened with statistics and dates, thus giving readers an opportunity to understand the 1857 revolt from a new perspective. Bhatt’s stories are not what is found in official records or textbooks, instead it is a vibrant account of his first hand experiences of one of India’s most historic years. 1857 The Real Story Of The Great Uprising was written in Marathi, and titled Majhaa Pravaas- 1857 Chya Bandachi Hakikat. It was published in 1903, four years after the death of Bhatt. It has now been translated into English by Mrinal Pande, who deserves credit for having made Bhatt’s travelogue reachable to a much larger audience. She has also added the fascinating tale behind the publication of this book.

Once the reader is familiar with the topic, several case studies are reproduced as if the author and the reader are sharing a chat over coffee. Written in the first person, the accounts are refreshingly compelling because they are presented as honest, easy-toread conversational transcripts as they happened without the frills of text-bookish or technical language. They show the pain behind various problems, their manifestation and ultimately, how the problem was solved/handled through weeks or months of counselling. Each chapter ends with a list of red flags to watch out for and possible courses of action to follow in case of problems. Since there is no preaching narrative or one-size-fits-all recommendations, it is hoped that discerning parents will use the book to understand the pitfalls facing their adolescents and initiate a better connection.
