A Better India A Better World
What will it take for India to bridge this great divide? When will the fruits of development reach the poorest of the poor, and wipe the tears from the eyes of every man, woman and child, as Mahatma Gandhi had dreamt? And how should this, our greatest challenge ever, be negotiated? In this honest, bold and remarkably well-argued book, N.R. Narayana Murthy, who shows us that a society working for the greatest welfare of the greatest number—samasta jananam sukhino bhavantu—must focus on two simple things: values and good leadership. Line And Strength
Glenn McGrath is one of the most highly regarded fast-medium pace bowlers in cricketing history, and was a leading contributor to Australia's domination of world cricket from the mid-1990s to 2007. He holds the world record for Test wickets by a fast bowler. He retired from Test cricket after the fifth Ashes Test in Sydney 2007, whilst the World Cup that year marked the end of his one-day career. McGrath was named One Day International Player of the Year and Wisden Cricketer of the Year on more than one occasion. He grew up in Marromine, where his local captain thought so little of his bowling ability that he refused to give him a bowl. But McGrath's potential was spotted by Doug Walters and he moved to Sydney, famously skinny and living in a caravan. McGrath capped his rapid rise in the next Australian summer with selection in the national side after playing only eight first-class matches. He relied on unerring accuracy in his bowling and the ability to make the ball seam off the pitch. In 2004, at the age of 34, McGrath took 4 for 24 against Pakistan in Perth, his best Test bowling figures and the second-best ever by an Australian. In 2004 he became the first Australians fast bowler to play 100 Tests. In the first innings of the ICC Super Series Test match in 2005, McGrath passed Courtney Walsh to become the greatest wicket-taker among fast bowlers in Test history.

Narendra Modi
Narendra Modi, chief minister of Gujarat, is one of the most misunderstood chief ministers that India has seen ever since Independence. He has frequently been criticised following the torching of the coaches of the Sabarmati Express at Godhra and the riots that occurred as a result. The book encapsulates the journey of this man from the time when he was an RSS pracharak, always ready and willing to give up power to serve his country. By channelising government revenue and understanding the landscape and people of Gujarat more closely, Modi has made a place in the hearts of many. The book traces Narendra Modi’s career and the manner in which he has turned the state into India’s number one industrial state in the bare space of about half-a-decade.

Shopaholic Abroad
For Rebecca Bloomwood, life is peachy. She has a job on morning TV, her bank manager is actually being nice to her, and when it comes to spending money, her new motto is Buy Only What You Need - and she's really (sort of) sticking to it. The icing on the brioche is that she's been offered a chance to work in New York. New York! The Museum of Modern Art! The Guggenheim! The Metropolitan Opera House! And Becky does mean to go to them all. Honestly. It's just that it seems silly not to check out a few other famous places first. Like Saks. And Bloomingdales. And Barneys. And one of those fantastic sample sales where you can get a Prada dress for $10. Or was it $100? Is Becky too dazzled to care?
