Seven Years in Tibet
A travel book with autobiographical elements, Seven Years In Tibet is author Heinrich Harrer’s compilation of his experiences during his trip to Tibet between 1944 and 1951. What started as a mountain expedition to the Tibetan capital of Lhasa, went awry for the mountaineer when he was captured and put in a British detention camp in Ahmednagar, a place close to Mumbai. He was later transferred to another camp in Dehradun. This happened because Austria had entered the Second World War around this time, and the British officials decided to declare the mountaineer and his colleagues as enemies of war. Harrer and his colleagues managed to escape from the detention camp. While most of his fellow expeditioners choose to return home, Aufschnaiter, another hiker, decided to continue with Harrer towards Lhasa. The lengthy captivity did not douse their spirits and they finally scaled Nanga Parbat. People believed that they had not survived their journey as a long time had passed since their departure. After reaching Tibet, Harrer blended into the society and became an official of the Tibetan Government. Later, he met the 14th Dalai Lama and became his close friend and tutor. Seven Years In Tibet was translated into 53 languages. It was a US bestseller in 1954, with over 3 million copies being sold after first being published in 1952. The book has also been adapted into films. Hans Nieter made a documentary that contained video shots taken by Harrer during his Tibet trip. Director Jean-Jacques Annaud released a movie titled Seven Years In Tibet in 1997, which cast actors Brad Pitt and David Thewlis as Harrer and Aufschnaiter.

Maya's Revenge
Wacky, witty, zippy and playful, yet also sharply knowing and well observed, Mayas Revenge reads like the wayward love child of an unholy three-way clinch between Indiana Jones, Shobhaa De and James Tod, trained in courtly arts by Vatsyayana then sent to a polo-playing finishing school by Jilly Cooper. Its a law unto itself, completely unpredictable and the greatest fun.William Dalrymple When the young orphan Bindy enters the palace of oil-rich Sheerpur as personal assistant to Princess Riddhima, she is entranced and repulsed by the glamorous lives of twenty-first-century royalty, with their vast privileges and gleaming excesses, their swanky cars and priceless jewels, and retinues of obsequious, immoral servitors.Conspiracy theorist Adam Addison introduces Bindy to the legend of an ancient order of beautiful assassin yoginis who, it seems, have been contracted to murder the crown prince, Riddhiraj. This handsome rake, whose seductions are as numerous as they are uncaring, has nevertheless cast a thrall over hapless Bindy, and stars prominently in her erotic dreams ...Set in an India that is a federation of princely and republican states, where khadi-clad politicians conspire with glittering princes, and khaki-clad policemen chase vaporous assassins, Mayas Revenge is a dark fantasy shot through with the piquancy of political drama.

Zealot : The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth
From the internationally bestselling author of No god but Godcomes a fascinating, provocative end meticulously researchedbiography that challenges long-held assumptions about the man we know as Jesus of Nazareth. Two thousand years ago, an itinerant Jewish preacher from Galilee launched a revolutionary movement proclaiming the Kingdom of God, and threatened the established order of first-century Palestine. Defying both Imperial Rome and its collaborators in the Jewish religious hierarchy, he was captured, tortured and executedas a state criminal. Within decades, his followers would call him the Son of God. Sifting through centuries of myth making, Reza Aslan sheds newlight on one of historys most influential and enigmatic figures byexamining Jesus within the context of the times in which he lived: the age of zealotry, an era awash inapocalyptic fervor, when scores of Jewish prophets and would-be messiahs wandered the Holy Landbearing messages from God. They also espoused a fervent nationalism that made resistance to Romanoccupation a sacred duty. Balancing the Jesus of the Gospels against historical sources, Aslan describes a complex gure: a man ofpeace who exhorted his followers to arm themselves; an exorcist and faith healer who urged his disciplesto keep his identity secret and the seditious King of the Jews, whose promise of liberation from Romewent unful lled in his lifetime. Aslan explores why the early Church preferred to promulgate an image of Jesus as a peaceful spiritual teacher rather than a politically conscious revolutionary and grapples with the riddle of how Jesus understood himself. Zealot provides a fresh perspective on one of the greatest stories ever told. The result is a thoughtprovoking, elegantly written biography with the pulse of a fast-paced novel and a singularly brilliant portrait of a man, a time and the birth of religion

The Toi Story
The Times Group transformed the mediascape in the 1980s and 90s. The TOI Story is about the Times of India Group, its journey during the early 1980s and 90s. During this decade, it reinvented itself from a staid, conservative, low - profit group running multiple publications and journals, to a market - focused, lean, innovative and profitable group, driven by only a handful of brands. While the driving initiatives sparked numerous controversies within and outside the group, eventually the Times Group helped redefine the media space in the country, expand readership, transform content and advertising. It persuaded publishers to see newspapers as a profitable business rather than a lever for political influence. At the centre of this transformation was Samir Jain, the youthful, maverick, visionary, reclusive owner of the group, blending spiritual values in his personal life with audacious commercial ambitions and courage and an uncanny sense of how the world around him was changing.
