Songs Of The Soul
The deep yearnings for divine love and joy that are within each of us found many-faceted expression in the life of Paramahansa Yogananda. Songs of the Soul is an outpouring of his direct perception of GOd - God in nature, in man, in everyday experiences, and in the spiritually awakened state of samadhi meditation. Most of these poems were written during Paramahansaji’s early years in the United States. Through his book, Autobiography of a Yogi, many westerners were introduced to the teachings of Kriya Yoga and meditation. Some of his other popular books include The Bhagavad Gita: God Talks With Arjuna, Whispers From Eternity, and Journey To Self Realization. He was born on January 5, 1893, in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. He did his graduation from the University Of Calcutta. His guru Swami Yukteswar Giri opposed blind belief and taught his students the need for directly experiencing the truth. Yogananda attained mahasamadhi on March 7, 1952.
