Anna is disturbed when her father decides that she needs to experience culture. He then enrolls her at an American school, located in Paris. The problem here is that Anna doesn’t understand French, making her wonder how she’ll pull through the first year at school. Despite her being sad about the change of plans, Anna finds herself a bit excited about her stay in Paris. Anne starts feeling homesick and alone, after landing in Paris. She then mingles with Meredith’s groups of friends, which include Etienne St. Clair, Josh, and his girlfriend. Etienne is the ladies’ man, having everything that makes men attractive. He possesses a British accent, while being fluent in French. He also knows a great deal about American culture. Apart from having looks in his favor, St. Clair is kind and funny, which makes Anna change her outlook towards staying in Paris. Anna soon gets to know that St. Clair has already got a girlfriend. While developing a fancy for St. Clair, Anna remembers her crush back home, but convinces herself that she doesn’t like him that much. For the time being, Anna and St. Clair become friends, with St. Clair showing Anna some of Paris’ favorite spots. Angel (Book 1)
The book is partly narrated by Willow, and partly by an omniscient narrator. Willow is a normal girl who has special powers, which make her unlike other girls. She is capable of reading peoples’ minds and knowing their future just by their touch. The only person who knows about Willow’s powers and from where she has acquired them is, Alex. He is an angel assassin and one of the few who knows the truth about angels. The author’s depiction of angels not as benign celestial creatures but as deceptive predators, is quite disturbing yet strangely fascinating. Alex is concerned about Willow as he thinks that she may hold the key to defeating the evil angels. He tries to stop her but the dark powers within Willow make her parlous yet unavoidable. As a result, Alex finds himself drawn to Willow which inturn leads to devastating consequences. With Angel, L.A. Weatherly has transformed the description of angels we know of. The book is a heart-pounding, paranormal romance action-adventure which is far from predictable and has gripping suspense throughout the course of the plot.
