In recent years, yoga has exploded in popularity. Yoga means “union” in Sanskrit. The spiritual side of yoga is its profound power to unite body, mind, and spirit. The authors begin by exploring the eight traditional yoga branches, only one of which, asana, corresponds to the poses people typically associate with yoga. Chopra then shows people how to understand the seven spiritual laws that govern nature-and how to integrate these laws into our daily lives using meditation, breathing, asana, and other yoga practices. The book is filled with illuminating and fascinating stories from Vedic lore and from many spiritual traditions. Completely describing dozens of yoga poses, meditative techniques, and breathing exercises and complete with more than 70 elegant black and white photographs, this Chopra book is essential for anyone who wants to embrace yoga's spiritual potential and lead a happier, more abundant, more harmonious life.
