A Pinch of This, A Handful of That is a celebration of well-known food writer Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyals coming of age in the kitchen and the many culinary influences that have moulded her into the cook she is now. Offering a smorgasbord of her favourite foods, it begins with a memoir of her growing years and the early influences on her palate, and goes on to explore recipes she encountered from the various people shes met. The book is a food diary with lots of fabulous recipes and the stories behind them. It includes popular and lesser-known dishes, as well as her own creations Gujarati Undhiyu, Sindhi Kadhi, Curry Leaf Fish, Goan Sausage Pulao, Clove-Scented Lamb in Red Wine, and Chindian Manchurian that cross barriers of community and region to become part of the colourful whole that is Rushinas kitchen.
