The world needs a little poetry to remain beautiful. A single word can lead to a million ideas, a simple suggestion can inspire a myriad of emotions. Sonnets about nothing, a collection of poetry by Asheesh Santram, aptly illustrates this. Based on random words suggested to the author by different people, the poems in this book encompass an infinite variety of thoughts, emotions and expressions in a few lines. With poems on contemporary events such as the June 2013 deluge (Rain), social issues (Rage), timeless concepts (Love, loyalty, evolution) and responses to other timeless classics (I too sit and look out), there is something for every reader and poetry lover. The idea and feelings behind each poem are explained by the poet, helping the reader to understand them better. While the poems are personal and subjective, they have a universal appeal. About the Author Asheesh Santram was born in an illustrious christian family of educationists in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. He graduated from St. Stephens college, Delhi and did his masters in English literature from Lucknow university. After an MBA from the university of Hull, UK and working short stints with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Radisson Hotel, New Delhi, he returned to Moradabad in 1997 to help in the administration of and teach at Wilsonia group of educational institutions. An ardent teacher of poetry and drama he is currently pursuing a PhD in literature. He has written a few articles for the times of India.
