Narendra Modi
Narendra Modi, chief minister of Gujarat, is one of the most misunderstood chief ministers that India has seen ever since Independence. He has frequently been criticised following the torching of the coaches of the Sabarmati Express at Godhra and the riots that occurred as a result. The book encapsulates the journey of this man from the time when he was an RSS pracharak, always ready and willing to give up power to serve his country. By channelising government revenue and understanding the landscape and people of Gujarat more closely, Modi has made a place in the hearts of many. The book traces Narendra Modi’s career and the manner in which he has turned the state into India’s number one industrial state in the bare space of about half-a-decade.

He has been a mentor and trendsetter for those who are seeking to follow his footsteps on the cricket field and an inspiration for those who seek excellence in other walks of life. The fortitude and self-belief that enabled him to scale every conceivable peak in his chosen profession continues to inspire youngsters. SMG is a comprehensive account of the remarkable life of the greatest opening batsman in cricketing history. The book takes the readers through SMG’s formative years, and subsequently, his battles for his country. It attempts to analyse the different facets of the man – his impeccable technique, his hunger for runs, his monumental concentration, his ups and downs, and above all, his resilience in crises, on and off the field. From his being declared the ‘Best Schoolboy Cricketer’ in 1966, to his record-breaking centuries, the book takes a close look at his achievements, many of which were unprecedented in cricketing history. The teenaged prodigy of the 1960s has evolved into a Guru of the game in the new millennium. The Clash Of Fundamentalisms
In this timely and important book, Tariq Ali puts the events of September 11 into sweeping historical perspective. As we have come to expect from him, he is lucid, eloquent, literary, and painfully honest, as he dissects both Islamic and Western fundamentalism." Howard Zinn "The book is an outstanding contribution to our understanding of the nightmare of history from which so many people are struggling to awake, and deserves serious engagement and consideration. Ali broadens our horizons, geographically, historically, intellectually and politically. His mode of history telling is lyrical and engaging, humane and passionate." -- Anthony Arnove, The Nation "Ali's style is vigorous, his narrative compelling, showing that the short-term, self-interested and oil-greedy policies of the British and Americans in such countries as Egypt, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Iran must make our much-vaunted ideals of democracy and equity seem like a bad joke." -- Karen Armstrong, The Times "It will not open doors at the White Hous e because it makes for uncomfortable reading ... a wide-ranging and powerfully argued critique, that gives pause for thought." - Financial Times "[Ali] finds little to distinguish between the organised violence of the United States and that of those who oppose it..." - Sydney Morning Herald "Urbane, highly intelligent and vividly written. One hopes this fine study will earn no fatwa." -- Richard Sennett, Times Literary Supplement

Yoga
Children, more than adults, are highly susceptible to falling prey to contagious diseases. A major factor that leads to an increase in the number of ailments afflicting school-going children in particular is stress; whether it is related to a child's studies, peer-pressure or home. This and several other factors contribute in weakening a child's immune system, which can lead to serious health issues. Not only this, growing children, especially those in their teens, are often plagued with skin-related problems like acne and pimples which can prove to be quite traumatic for a young mind. Yoga for Schoolchildren is quite what the doctor would have prescribed in such a situation. It offers yogic asanas which help address all these problems and more. These asanas are easy to perform and do not take up too much of a child's time or energy. What's more, they help children lead a healthy lifestyle which enables them to grow up into healthy, confident adults.

Back to Health through Yoga does not seek to transplant a dozen yogic postures in modern medicine. It looks upon yoga as a precious tool in mind-body medicine. The postures, diet and sleep (called physical culture in yoga), meditation (as first aid for stress), and the yogic attitude (for long time relief from stress) are all part of yoga, and all these have a place in mind-body medicine. Mind-body medicine aims at correcting the faults in lifestyle responsible for the illness, and thereby creating the best conditions for reversal of the process which led to the illness. This book is meant for the intelligent and inquisitive reader who will use it to discover the roots of health and disease. Also included are reasonable guidelines for healthy lifestyles based on yoga. Stress management has been discussed on the basis of Patanjali
