ndia Shining and Sinking is a collection of daunting and thought provoking essays on a diverse range of subjects ranging from politics, governance to corruption and poverty. The author writes that India is currently under siege both from within and from the outside. Corruption and incompetence has got deeply incorporated in our governance and the politicians’ today work only for self-advancement rather than the welfare of the nation and its citizens. The economic health of India has been badly affected by this and crime and corruption have become bywords of our daily lives. To add to the existing problems within the country, our neighbors such as Pakistan and China are on constantly on the look-out for a slightest hitch in the system so that they can breach our defences.
