Amongst the writer famous in the library circles all over the world, O.Henry is one whose stories interest the most on account of an attractive blend of humour and spiced material. Another interesting aspect of his writings is the surprise endings he employs. Born as William Sydney Porter, in 1862, in Greenboro, North Carolina, he used to work in a Bank before becoming an author. He was sent to prison on the charge of embezzlement of bank's money. After an imprisonment of five years, he was released following which he went to New York. His writing career began after that move and brought him world fame. He bought a magazine, which in 1894 became popular as 'The Rolling Stone'. His short stories leave the readers enchanted to this date.
